1/17 Update

Hi there,
Isn't technology amazing? Until it is not? Hopefully you will get this update this evening, Wednesday. I know some of you are getting them on time and some are getting a day late. Our district tech guy sent is a ticket to Edlio to fix it.

Also, starting last night the K-12 curriculum went down. So it allows you to log in to Peak, but then you cannot go into any lessons. I'm locked out as well. I was online with Peak last night and today for a long time and they have not resolved the issue. They have escalated the repair and we should have a fix soon. In the mean time, have your kiddos work through any lessons on paper they can. Your parent lesson guide will still tell you the page numbers in hard and soft books that they should be using. Hopefully we will have a resolution soon!

Now for the fun news! Next week Arete Charter Academy is taking The Great Kindness Challenge". We will be doing lots of kind deeds around here and on campus. We will also have some dress up days to celebrate,

*Tuesday we will be Crazy for Kindness and show off our crazy hats or crazy hair

*Thursday we will have Team Kindness and wear our favorite sport uniform

Below is the link if you want to see other ways to embrace the challenge!

Next Thursday, January 25th we will be taking a field trip to Alta Sierra School to participate in their amazing planetarium assembly. I have attended before and it is awesome! They bring a huge bubble in that fills the entire MPR room. we climb inside the the MPR is transformed into a planetarium. We will learn about lots of constellations. Here is the schedule for the day:

9:15-11:30 Arete Resource Center Regular Classes
11:30-11:45 bring/eat sack lunch
11:45 Parent pick up and transport to Alta Sierra School MPR. Meet me in front by 12:10.
12:15-1pm Planetarium Assembly

Please let us know if you will/ will not be attending. Mrs. Harrison will be staying back at the Resource Center with any students who do not attend.

1/15 Update- If you get this later than tonight, please email me

Good evening! Happy Martin Luther King Day! At the Arete Resource Center this week, we made Peace Doves to symbolize MLK and wrote out our dreams for our world. Your children were very sweet dreaming of a world where all children have food and homes and a world free of cancer and type 1 diabetes. That all sounds great to me!

Arete is growing!!! We ordered more Chromebooks before Christmas and have now passed them all out. I ordered even more last week, but they will not be ready for tomorrow. We have four in class and have 12 students scheduled to come in. Unless you are a K-2 student, please bring your fully charged Chromebook/ or charger with you. Our new Chromebooks have different chargers, so we have no Lenovo chargers in class. Hopefully we will have the new Chromebooks ready by Thursday. These are great problems to have!

The Arete Resource Center is now open Monday and Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30 for 6-8 students and Tuesday and Thursday from 9:15-12 for K-5 students unless you have made prior arrangements with me. One of the perks of our program is that we can be flexible in how the program meets each child's needs, so it looks a little different for each student.

Tomorrow we get to try mandarins for Harvest of the Month. Arete has contracted with Harvest of the Month to provide this for all of our students.

Look for the Sign Up Genius email alter this week to arrange our Session #5 meetings at the end of January. Please call or email me if you miss a scheduled appointment.

Have a great week!
