Irrigation Help For the Garden, Sami's Circuit, and Dragon's Craft Fair

The big day arrives tomorrow! Please come shop our amazing craft fair from 12:30-1:30. We are having a super raffle and face painting. We would love to see you!

Sami's Circuit came today and it was amazing. So much student, parent and teacher participation. Here is the first set of videos and we will play them weekly in class and post them here for at home families to use!

Movement is Key

Sami uses Movement to help Tex beat the blues when he’s stuck indoors during an unusual Texas snowstorm. Includes 10 mins. exercise + 2-minute cooldown.

Arete Charter Academy - You are amazing!

Your school or after school program has enrolled in Sami's Circuit On Demand. This program provides weekly SEL videos tailored for two groups of grades (K-3 and 4-6), optional discussion worksheets, digital downloads, and virtual family nights. Click here for more information.

I recently applied for a garden grant from Raleys and we received $2000. We currently only have water coming to the garden from Oct-April each year when our NID holding pond is full. That makes it pretty prohibitive what we can plant in the garden each year. We would like to spend the money on creating irrigation from a building to the garden. We are hoping we have a parent or a parent with a connection that we could reach out to. Please email me at [email protected] if you have any suggestions for us. Thanks!

Wednesday, April 24 Update

The EXCITING Day is tomorrow!

We are so excited to announce that we have received a grant from NCSOS and are spending a large portion of it on Sami's Circuit. We will be kicking off this year long initiative on Thursday, April 25 with two assemblies. Please come on campus and join us. TK-3rd Grades will be from 9:30-10:15 and 4-8th Grades will be from 10:30-11:15. Following for the next year will be weekly 20 minute videos that model healthy choice and behaviors and get kids moving! We will also have three virtual Family Nights (we may Zoom in for one from the Arete MPR) where families can tune in for energetic fun and motivation. We hope you will join us for some of these fun and healthy events!

*Here is the outline for all of the April SEL Lessons broken up by grade level. I have attached the Layout document for the specific grade levels. In each layout I have included; the summary of this month's theme, a video link with discussion/talking points, and a resiliency booster activity with a link.

Overall Monthly Theme: Lift the Weight

Hi Arete Family! Staff appreciation week is coming up in May! We are planning lots of special treats for our amazing staff but we need your help to make it possible. I have attached a signup for one of the days. Be on the lookout for more to come. Also we are in need of monetary donations so we can provide the staff with chair massages and some other fun things. Please contact Samantha Randall if you can contribute financially. We also need help with setting up and cleaning up. Please message me if you can help in any way. THANK YOU!!!

Remember to email Sarah at [email protected] a few days before a kiddos’ birthday if you want to send in treats so I can check for food allergies. Nuts are never allowed, but some individual classes have food allergies that I also monitor closely. Thanks for keeping our students safe. We also strongly encourage healthier treats if possible as some families closely monitor their kiddos’ sugar and food dye intake.

Please remember that we are a NUT FREE school as we have several students with severe nut allergies. Kiddos may enjoy nut free granola bars and spreads on their sandwiches and all the nut free favorites when away from Arete. Thanks!

Sunday, April 14 Update

Hello all,

Last week was one for the books. We had an amazing turnout for the book fair, which brings money to our donation fund and new books for the library. We had our first parent-led fundraiser with Papa Murphy’s, PRSD’s school board held a meeting at Arete (and could not stop raving about our beautiful campus, happy chickens, and awesome projects at the wonderful Arete Student Showcase.) Ah, I LOVE our sweet school!

3-8th Grade CAASPP & 5th & 7th Grade Physical Fitness Testing 2023  Starts this week. Please send your kiddo with their charged Chromebook (if they have an Arete issued one), a snack, water bottle, and some lessons to work on if they finish testing early. They can complete one test tomorrow before the break, and then can start the second test after the break if they are ready. Teachers will walk them down to the front of school for pick up at 11:55. If they get done early, they can read their book or work on their lessons. We will also have a drawing at the end of each testing session to reward kiddos for coming in and trying their hardest. We all KNOW that there are many ways to show growth and that state testing is only one way. We will do everything we can to make their a non-stressful environment where our sweet kiddos are encouraged to try their best and show what they have learned this year!

*Arete’s 3rd Talent Show is coming Tuesday, April 16 at 11am. All are invited! Please arrive at 10:30 to get good seats and purchase something from the snack bar! Bring a blanker or chair to sit out on the grass.

Pizza Fundraiser Update

Our first ever pizza fundraiser with Papa Murphy's Auburn was a success!  We exceeded our goal and 24 Arete families got to pickup pizza from Arete to take home for a delicious dinner, and we raised $191 for the school!

Did you know that Arete's FUNdraising committee has a goal of raising $1,000 for the '23-'24 school year to help us cover costs for: jump ropes, playground balls, music enrichments, school assemblies, teacher appreciation, and more?
*In the '22-'23 school year we raised $700.

Keep an eye out for more of these future food fundraisers, and please share all constructive feedback ([email protected]) since this was our first time.
