Good Evening families!

This year PRSD has a goal to improve student attendance. If your family does not turn in enough satisfactory work samples or they have missing attendance days, your Educational Advisor will reach out weekly by phone or email to see how things are going and if there is anything we can do to support you.  If you have a successful 20 day meeting without missing assignments or attendance, your family is exited from this attendance intervention. We will continue to have monthly treats for students who turn in all logs and satisfactory work samples on time. Next month are (nut free) chocolate chip cookies). Smaller Oreo cookies will be offered to siblings.

Reminder that students may be dropped off at 8:55 and can walk directly to class. Students should not be dropped off any earlier or head out to the playground unless they are supervised by parents. Pick up is at 12pm. Students who are not picked up will be walked up to the office at 12:05 to wait for their ride to pick them up.

Remember to email Sarah at [email protected] a few days before a kiddos’ birthday if you want to send in treats so I can check for food allergies. Nuts are never allowed, but some individual classes have food allergies that I also monitor closely. Thanks for keeping our students safe. We also strongly encourage healthier treats if possible as some families closely monitor their kiddos’ sugar and food dye intake.

We have lots of people who have signed up to bring in their kiddos for Trick or Treating, lots of kiddos who will already be there that day, and not enough people signed up to bring in and hand out treats. If you have not already done so, please sign up to bring something in to hand out that day (it can be healthy, sweet, a toy, whatever). If we do not have enough people to hand out some goodies, we need to cancel the event. Thanks so much!

Arete Gear

We will be having a two week campaign for Fancloth which is the company we use for a bigger variety of School Spirit Wear. This year they adde

d more items for smaller children.The campaign is live Monday, September 26- Monday, October 10. This is not a fundraiser for us, just a way to get some cool items. We will send home catalogs this week, but there are more items shown online. fancloth.shop/r2hgy 

 

We also will be once again offering our red Arete T shirts $10 and sweatshirts $25 for order soon and will be adding Arete bags this year. That is a fundraiser sponsored by an Arete family and they donate 50% of the proceeds back to Arete. Look for those details soon!

Fall Field Trips 2022

We have had 6/15 parents who have paid and the deadline is next Friday, September 30 at 12pm. If you have not paid by then, you and your child’s names will both be dropped from the field trip!

If your middle school daughter is interested in playing on the Arete basketball team and has a valid medical waiver from a doctor who has not been disciplined or is fully vaccinated, please let me know at [email protected] by Monday, September 26 at 9am. We need eight committed girls to field a team. The season runs from October 10- December 16. The cost is included in the price of the Blended Middle School or is $150 for other students out of Instructional Funds.

Love and Logic Parenting Class Starts at Cottage Hill this week- This is amazing and highly recommended for families. There is free childcare AND dinner provided. Please download and complete the flier from the earlier posting or grab one in the front office. The series is from 6-8pm at the Cottage Hill Library on September 21, 28, October 5, 12, 26,  and November 2.

This week we are thankful for cooler temperatures and yet now dealing with the poor air quality. School is not usually canceled due to poor air quality as often “our schools are better equipped, with higher quality air ventilation and filtration systems, than residential homes, “ according to Nevada County Superintendent of Schools. We will be closely monitoring the air quality throughout the day when determining if students can be outside for breaks. If we are able to be outside, all students will have the opportunity of coming inside the library with me if they are struggling with the outside air.

*Supply and Curriculum Orders are all caught up (unless you ordered them just last week). Some have been sitting there for 2-3 weeks. If you have received an email to come pick up supplies and curriculum, it would be super helpful if you would come and pick it up. You can pull up to the delivery spot to the right of the Arete building and we can help you load it up.

School Safety in Nevada County

Nevada County Superintendent of Schools invites families and community members to attend one of two informational school safety meetings. Local law enforcement, fire services, and Office of Emergency Services will provide valuable information on collaborative efforts and plans to keep students and staff safe on Nevada County school sites.

So you think you’re funny?  Ever think about being a stand-up comedian?  Join the Middle School Stand-Up Comedy club.  Club activities will include joke writing, practicing material, and performing.  They will be meeting on November 2nd, 9th, 16th, 30th, and December 7th from 3:20 PM-4:45 PM in A5/A6 at Magnolia Intermediate.  Permission forms are in the front office and need to be returned by next Friday, September 16th.

We have opened the Sign Up up to anyone who wants to sign up for a second field trip. We have plenty of room in our Farm Day Field Trip. Nevada County Farm Day- Wednesday, September 14– 9am-12pm 3rd-5th Grades

Meet the Mrs. Veblen at Gate 5 promptly at 9am. There will be a snack break and lunch picnic time together. Food is not provided or available for purchase.
