Meredith Doerr is Arete's Outstanding Teacher of 2023!!!
I think Meredith Doerr is a wonderful example of an outstanding teacher. She puts her heart and soul into teaching. She can teach any grade, connects with students so well, and makes learning fun! She holds students and families to a high standard and genuinely cares. It is evident that she is passionate about teaching and she does it so well!
She is always taking on extra duties/responsibilities. She is the head of the chicken committee and takes absolute responsibility to make sure the chickens are safe and thriving. (That has not been easy in this crazy weather.) She coordinates parents for both that and our overnight field trip to Sutter’s Fort which she is also responsible for. Meredith is the teacher that steps up for so many responsibilities that I have to check in with her to make sure she is not taking too much on. But the thing is, no matter how many extra roles she accepts, she knocks them all out of the ballpark.
She provides engaging opportunities for a variety of students. She spends time figuring out what works best for individual students. She is constantly supporting students...in the Resource Center, tutoring, and in all the enrichments she offers. She works hard to offer students an enriching and meaningful curriculum. It is clear she cares deeply about the students and our school as a whole.
Meredith’s reach goes beyond Arete as she is the first teacher to step up if Magnolia needs a substitute. She teaches after school enrichment classes for Cottage Hill and Alta Sierra and is responsible for independent study and home hospital for PRSD. It is hard to comprehend how well she does so many different tasks and jobs, but she does both thoroughly and professionally.
Meredith makes herself available night and day to support families. She curates work to scaffold lessons or to provide supplements when students are struggling with specific concepts. She is committed to professional development and signs up for extra professional learning opportunities like Math Mindset. She always has a positive attitude and is extremely thorough and timely in completing all work. Meredith has a positive rapport with all staff, students and parents. She is a dream employee and teacher.
Meredith is the absolute epitome of an Outstanding Teacher!
A news article written by 8th grader, Dakota Perrotta. She has skills!
Arete’s girls volleyball team has had two games so far, and they have won them both! Last season they lost a lot of their games, as it was pretty much all of their first times playing. Though not surprising, it was often disappointing. Everything changed at the start of this season; it was Arete vs. Chicago Park. The girls seemed extremely nervous, yet they actually did really well. The score kept everyone on the edge of their seats. One second they were about to win, the next they were about to lose. They did in fact win, and they were so excited they were all jumping around with excitement. One of the players to watch would definitely be #7, Bella Stafford. She brings the most positive energy anyone has ever seen to the team. Whenever she does anything like get the ball over the net, get her overhand serve over, or do a cool move, the girls love her and always get so happy! You can tell they are proud of her. She's one of the only girls who is able to consistently get her overhand serve over. 📷
This team works really well together. They always try to get the ball, they call it, and they always make sure to work together. A lot of teams can't do that, but Arete can!
In the second game it was initially clear who was going to win; however, in the second set it started getting a little nerve-racking. Eventually, they won again! The whole team is honestly amazing, and they are a team to watch! Hopefully, they will win the rest of their games as well!

Remember to email Sarah at [email protected] a few days before a kiddos’ birthday if you want to send in treats so I can check for food allergies. Nuts are never allowed, but some individual classes have food allergies that I also monitor closely. Thanks for keeping our students safe. We also strongly encourage healthier treats if possible as some families closely monitor their kiddos’ sugar and food dye intake.
Please remember that we are a NUT FREE school as we have several students with severe nut allergies. Kiddos may enjoy nut free granola bars and spreads on their sandwiches and all the nut free favorites when away from Arete. Thanks!
