Every year the State asks us to send out the California School Parent Survey. Arete needs you to complete this online survey to learn more about your opinions about our school. This survey is an opportunity to communicate your perceptions about your child’s school. If you have any questions about this survey, please email me at [email protected]

Your participation is voluntary and valuable to us. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement. This is an anonymous survey. It is designed so that no one can be identified from the data.  You do not have to respond to any questions that you feel could be used to identify you.  Simply skip any such questions. All questions apply to Arete only and the results are for our use only. If you have more than one child at this school, you will only need to complete one survey for this school. Please fill out just one survey about the school using your oldest child as a reference. We use the information from the survey to guide the decisions our school makes and to make a plan for the next school year when we write our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) in the spring. Please click on this link before December 7th to complete the survey.

Food Allergies

We have many students who have food allergies at Arete. Some are ones that we are able to monitor by making sure that no one brings treats with those allergens into the classroom. Some are ones that are so dangerous to a few of our students, that they can cause great harm if they are in a food that is being eaten nearby these students. We are a nut free school. I have posted this on the Arete Family Facebook page and on the weekly email I send out each week. Yet, we still have students bringing nuts to school and even some kiddos teasing others about their food allergies or saying that students can't sit by them because they have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or nuts in their granola bars. There are large quantities of time that students are not on the Arete campus and can have access to snacks with nuts in them. For the few hours a week that we get to have kiddos on campus, please have them leave the nuts at home. Thanks so much for your cooperation!

Sunday, November 13 Update

Good Evening Families!

We have decided to celebrate Friendship on 11/21 and 11/22. Mrs. Cindy, the librarian, will be going into classes and reading a book about friendship. Teachers will have students complete a quilt square about friendship that we will make into an enormous Friendship Quilt that will hang in the library. Teachers will be reaching out to the room parents to organize apple juice and cornbread muffins for the friends to share or if you know you would like to contribute, please email me at [email protected].

We have not sent out the formal letter stating what immunizations students are missing. The two week clock starts at that time. That means all students can still be on campus. We have lots of fun activities planned for our time together so please keep bringing them in!

Reminder that NWEA (2-8th Grades) and STAR AR (4-8th grades) testing starts next, Monday, November 14.  All students are invited onto campus. If you have not signed up for a slot yet, please do so now. This month for 20 Day Meetings, parents will be signing an addendum to the Master Agreement you signed earlier in the year. We get audited yearly and the auditor found that while we do all of the items mentioned in the addendum, they were not spelled out in the Master Agreement and they need to be. In addition, we will be offering Build Your Own Trail Mix (lots of healthy choices offered) in the front office November 15, 16, and 17th. EA’s will give you a ticket if your family turns in ALL attendance and PE logs and work samples on time.

The California State Capitol is the seat of the California government, located in Sacramento, the capital of California. The Capitol building serves as both a museum and the state’s working seat of government.  The building houses the chambers of the California State Legislature, made up of the California State Assembly and the California State Senate, along with the office of the Governor of California.  Visitors to the Capitol can at once experience California’s rich history and witness the making of history through the modern lawmaking process.
