Student Budget Planning Worksheet

The time has come! Arete Charter Academy's first Scholastic Book Fair is here!

It will be held from March 4th-11th from 9-9:30am and after school from12:00-1:00pm for parents. We will have additional evening hours March 8th 4:30-5:30pm.

This fun event will be held in the library, which is straight through the front doors, down the hall, and on the right hand side.

There will be multiple ways to purchase books.
*You may use your own money to purchase books/posters/pencils/ etc to keep.
*If you participated in pledging money for the Read-A-Thon, you will be given 20% percentage of your pledge fund to spend on whatever you want.
*You may use up to $100 of your child's funding to purchase books that will be welcomed back to the school library at the end of the year. (please complete the attached budget and send to your EA to approve PRIOR to your shopping trip).

Scholastic provides a program called an E-Wallet that family and friends can donate to for your child to spend at the fair. Also, you can get books anytime online.
Every kind of purchase helps our school meet the goal of $1,800 dollars spent so that we can get Scholastic money to spend on growing our library and garden and maybe bring chickens next year.

To see more information, the book fair schedule, shop online, and set up your E-Wallet to share, click the link below.

Arete Charter Academy Intent to Return for the 2022-2023 School Year

This is the second time we are sending this form. Please respond ASAP to secure your child's spot next year!

Thank you so much for being part of our fifth year at Arete. This year has been a wild and amazing journey and we are so glad your family has been on it with us. We also know that homeschool is not for everyone, and want parents to make the best decision for their families. We anticipate possibly introducing animals to the campus next year, adding more staff, and increasing the number of offsite independent contractors and onsite enrichment classes. We are already making arrangements for next year and need to know what your plans are. Thank you for completing one form for each child who attends our school. Please complete for TK-7th grade. This form is due by March 11, 2022 and will guarantee your child's enrollment at Arete for the 2022-2023 school year. If you do not respond, we will follow up ONE time, and then will consider your answer to be that your child is NOT returning to Arete. If you decide to come back later, there may be openings and if not, you will get priority in the lottery. The lottery will be held by the end of the 2022 school year, if needed.

Tuesday, February 22 Update

Lovely families,

Susie Bell brought in the clay pots from the enrichment class. They may be picked up in the school office.

Thank you for sending your sweet and kind kiddos to us today. We were not sure how the day would play out with the changing of the mask enforcement, but overall, things went very well. Kids were respectful to their friends who have made different choices than they have. We have families all across the spectrum on this issue and we are trying to be respectful to all. I do want to make note of the fact that the teachers are the ones who have feet on the ground in the classrooms while we are figuring out how to handle this changing landscape and they are doing their very best to accommodate the varying perspectives, while maintaining their regular classroom routines. Please encourage your child to still be respectful to their teacher as that is the leader in the classroom.

Even though the Resource Center is optional, it is considered an integral part of the program and of our school day, so we are treating it like part of a regular classroom day. However, masks will be required at the school dance on Thursday (unless it warms up and we can go outside). Enrichment classes are 100% optional and those are led by instructors who are not employees of PRSD, so therefore they have the right to require masks for their classes.

Dear Rising Bruin (8th Grade) Families:
We are super excited to welcome you as Future Bruins! Last week we had a Future Bruin NIght where we presented some of our offerings and gave families a chance to meet teachers and learn more about being a Bruin. As promised, attached is the Powerpoint from the evening for those who were not able to attend or would like to refer back.
We look forward to visiting middle schools and handing out registration materials so students can sign up for classes. If you have not yet enrolled your student for next year, please do so as soon as possible. You can enroll on the Bear River High School website and instructions are on the last slide of the powerpoint. If you have any questions or would like to make an individual meeting, please email us and we will get you scheduled. Welcome to Bruin Nation!

If you do not want your child to be part of it, you may drop them off at school after 10am.

So excited to announce that the Lion’s Club is sponsoring six, yes SIX, $50 gift cards to Target for our readers. Everytime you earn a prize from Arete, that will also earn you a raffle ticket to go towards the Target gift card raffle. We will have one winner per two grade levels on average, and everyone who does not win in the grade level raffle will be entered one more time in the whole school raffle. Thanks to Lion’s Club for their generous donation. We will take pictures of the winners and then seek their parent’s permission to share the pictures with the Lion's Club. (You can still win even if you are not comfortable with sharing pictures).
