10/15 Update

A few reminders-

When picking up/dropping off at Arete, please pull slowly through the correct side of the Magnolia parking lot. Safety is very important to us and we do have small children walking back and forth to the bathrooms, etc. Also, pick ups should happen at Arete unless you email or call us. Arete kiddos can not be walking around or across the Magnolia campus in the middle of the day without permission and name tags and the same goes for Magnolia kids on Arete's campus. Please email me with questions/concerns.

Please let me know if your 5-8th grade child would like to participate in the Nevada County Spelling Tournament. We have one 5th grader and two 7th graders and would love two from each grade level and would love to have all the slots full.

10/7 Update

Hope you had a great weekend! Please remember that all 20 day meetings need to be held this week. Please make sure you show up to your meeting with completed attendance and PE records. If you need another copy, please ask in the Resource Center or download from our website. Also, each child needs at least two work samples from each subject. Feel free to peek in their binder or email your Educational Advisor if you do not know how many they need. Wednesday, October 17 is the cut off to turn in all records to not have absences reported to the state and loss of funding. Last month we were 46/47 completed binders. That is a huge success! Thanks for supporting us and your children.

After reviewing they family survey, we will limit library to every other week. So that means students can keep their books this week and we will go to Book Fair next week. You voted overwhelmingly to keep garden and art docent to one visit per month. Garden runs about 30 minutes and art docent about one hour. We will maintain this schedule through the end of December and then re-asses.  Also, we are looking for instructors in wood shop, basket making, bracelet making, wood/pallet sign making, and photos on wood signs if anyone is interested or knows anyone who is interested in leading these afterschool enrichment classes. Thanks for all of your input.

9/24 Update

Good evening,
*Art- We recently hired an art specialist to bring amazing art lessons to Arete one time per month. You don't need to do anything extra, they are scheduled during regular Resource Center time. Also, please save and turn in egg cartons, paper towel and toilet paper rolls for some fun October crafts. Thanks!

*20 Day Meetings are quickly approaching! Please make sure that your children are completing enough work daily. All students can log in to Accelerate or PEAK and you can look at the percentage of work completed so far. As of today, they should have completed 15% of all lessons. Please also make sure they are completing or submitting enough work samples.
