HELP!!! For Science Camp

Our 6/7th grade students will leaving to Science Camp on Monday, May 23- Friday, May 27. We are in desperate need of a male counselor to stay in the cabin with a group of boys. It could be a responsible high schooler, college student, or parent. You would be volunteering your time in exchange for a paid week of lodging, hiking, meals, etc. Please email [email protected] if you are interested!

Parent Action Committee and Yearbook

Our next and last Parent Action Committee Meeting will be Tuesday, May 17 at 12:15. We will be reviewing Arete's LCAP (Local Control and Accountability Plan), Fun Field Days for the last day of Resource Center, 8th Grade Promotion and plans for next year including some kind of Parent's Club and enrichments, field trips, etc . If you want  to have a say in decisions that we make at Arete, THIS is the meeting to come to! We will be inside for part of the meeting as we need to review the LCAP on the screen (I will email it to meeting attendees ahead of time to review and comment on). I have a list of people who signed up at the beginning of the year that I will invite, but we have lots of new families and we would love to have a robust committee. Please email [email protected] to RSVP and receive the agenda. Thanks!

The Chicken Chat for Tuesday, May 17th was moved to 11:45-12:10 so you can talk chickens with Meredith and then come talk Arete with me.

*Wednesday May 4th- Last day to order the school yearbook. www.treering.com/validate. Our school’s passcode is 101636661669265.
You only have two days left to purchase your Arete Charter Academy yearbook for $18.60. That's just 48 hours! And don't forget the price includes two FREE custom pages.

We're biased but we rank yearbooks up there on the list of "VIP" purchases!

Today is going to be great,
Your friends at TreeRing
WE will not be purchasing any extra yearbooks to have for sale, so if you miss this deadline, you can order and have it shipped to your house but it might not make the end of the school year.

Tuesday, May 3 Update

Garden request- please save your extra cardboard and lean it up against the garden shed. We will use them for weed control for the upcoming wildflower garden!

Attention all CHICKEN lovers! Ms. Doerr has committed to being the Boss of the chickens (but needs two parent team mates.) Read below for upcoming meeting.

Hello Arete Families!
We have some exciting news! Arete is looking to start a small ag department, beginning with our very own chicken flock!
I am volunteering to be the head teacher for this endeavor, but I will need TWO parent volunteers to co-chair this committee. You don’t need to be an expert in fowl upkeep and management to jump onboard, you simply need to be willing to learn and be committed to take on the position for the 2022-2023 academic year. This is going to be a fun and collaborative project!
We also have position available for those looking to volunteer for chicken care one day per week! For 15-30 minutes, once a week, volunteers will visit the coop to do a quick clean up, collect eggs, and perform a visual health check on the hens. This is something that can be done in the mornings before Resource Center.
How can you participate? Sign up to volunteer with Arete’s team and donate a few minutes once a week to help create this egg-cellent experience!
Please join us for an introductory “chicken-chat” meeting!
12:15pm, Monday, May 16th
12:15pm, Tuesday, May 17th
If you would like more information, have chicken-knowledge to share, or if you know you want to be part of this fun adventure, please contact me directly at mdoerr@prsd,us.
Thank you!
Meredith Doerr

*PRSD Survey- I was hoping to have 81 families complete the survey as that would have been 50% of our families. We ended up with 71, which is 44% and better than last year. The comments you left were so amazing, heartfelt and much appreciated so Meredith Doerr and I will be eating a cricket this week on Wednesday with the big kids. (EEEK)
