Good Evening Families!

Families,

You have an amazing opportunity to help us to make our vision of an orchard at Arete a reality! We have completed our garden expansion to include a fenced area for fruit trees. We are planning for six fruit trees this year, that once mature will have fruit ripe during the fall when school is in session. We are seeking sponsorships to help us purchase the trees, irrigation supplies, fertilizer, landscape fabric, and wooden signs. Each tree sponsorship is $125. Your family will have the choice to work with us to plant the tree and paint the wood sign marker or to have us do those activities with the students. Please turn in the attached paper and your payment by February 16th, 2023. Thank you so much for considering making a permanent investment in our kiddos' futures!

*The Great Kindness Challenge will be January 23-27

All kids deserve to learn in a safe, supportive and caring environment. The GKC promotes kindness in all kiddos and is a positive, action-based initiative that creates a school culture of kindness, compassion, unity, and respect.

*Bring a picnic lunch and join The Arete OC Adventures Group on Friday, February 10 from 12-2 at the outside Arete picnic table. There will be time for lunch with friends, a garden lesson, a friendship craft lesson and healthy snack and time to play with friends on the playground and swings and visit the library. These activities are being planned by parents and there will be an opportunity at the end of this meetup to help plan the March meetup. Please click the link here to complete the Sign Up Genius so we know how many friends to expect. All are invited!

Square One Art Sunflower Lesson

We are super excited to be offering Square 1 Art again this year. Some students completed projects during Art Docent this week. We have extra paper in the Arete Vestibule for you to take and have any kiddos (including siblings) complete the project at home. Then we mail the artwork to Square 1 and they ship back catalogs with your child's work on all different kinds of products for purchase. We do not make money on this, but it's a lovely service we offer families to get your kids artwork on cool products. Items will be back in time for Mother's and Father's Day. Examples of products are also in the vestibule at Arete.

"Families may not always get excited about fundraisers — but they DO get excited about what their child is learning. That is what makes Square 1 Art fundraising so exceptional.   Each child’s creativity is celebrated and families have a lasting, keepsake memory, while you raise valuable funds! That is a win-win partnership." https://www.square1art.com/

January and February 2023 Enrichments

There are several classes that may be canceled due to low enrollment. If this is the case, we will give a few days notice. If a class is full and you want to be added to the waiting list, please email Sarah at [email protected]. Thanks!

For off site enrichment classes:

Stephanie and Wendy at Little Hummingbird Crafts announced their Arete OC Adventure Class Line Up. Check them out here, sign up, add to a budget form and use Enrichment Funds! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c094fa4a928a6fdc61-artclasses

Remember to email Sarah at [email protected] a few days before a kiddos’ birthday if you want to send in treats so I can check for food allergies. Nuts are never allowed, but some individual classes have food allergies that I also monitor closely. Thanks for keeping our students safe. We also strongly encourage healthier treats if possible as some families closely monitor their kiddos’ sugar and food dye intake.

Please remember that we are a NUT FREE school as we have several students with severe nut allergies. Kiddos may enjoy nut free granola bars and spreads on their sandwiches and all the nut free favorites when away from Arete. Thanks!
