Fort Ross Marine Ecology Program Overnight Field Trip, Tuesday and Wednesday, May 5th-6th All ages are welcome. 19005 Coast Hwy, Jenner, CA 95450

Join us for an unforgettable overnight adventure at Fort Ross, where students will explore California’s rugged coastline through hands-on marine science and outdoor learning. During the Marine Ecology Program (MEP), students will observe and identify local marine mammals, explore the intertidal zone and its fascinating sea life, record observations and sketches in a field journal, and learn about biodiversity, conservation, and the ecological connections between land and sea. Students will also build teamwork skills through collaborative outdoor learning. You can sleep in either of the two block houses (sleep ~24 people in four rooms) or in tents. If the sky is clear, the stars on the coast can be incredible. After a day of exploration and learning, students will help prepare dinner, enjoy a campfire, and—if skies are clear—stargaze along the beautiful Sonoma Coast. The next morning, we’ll pack up before the fort opens to the public and continue with another round of engaging MEP activities before heading home.

The program typically runs from 11:00 AM on the first day until 11:00 AM the following day, with flexibility to accommodate travel needs (Timing may change and we will discuss exact times at the first mandatory meeting). This field trip combines science, history, and outdoor fun—an experience students will remember for years.

Cost - $100 per student out of student Enrichment Funds, which includes 1 adult. Each additional adult is $20 - siblings welcome, 2 years and under are free - 3 years old and up are $75 and can participate in activities. Students will bring a sack lunch for Tuesday. Arete will provide an afternoon snack and breakfast on Wednesday. Dinner will be communal and customizable. MANDATORY meetings either zoom or in person.
