All on-campus 5th–8th grade students are invited to a field trip to Bluebird Farm in Nevada City on Wednesday, October 7. Thanks to a generous donation of nearly $2,000 from Jennifer Dickey and Andy Huang, admission and transportation are fully funded for our school!
At Bluebird Farm, they specialize in growing greens, flowers and microgreens. They have over 30 year's experience with food and farm education. Field trip activities include things like seed saving, harvesting and making salad, learning about bugs on the farm, picking apples and making apple cider in the fall, visiting with baby goats in the spring and much more. Students will engage in hands-on learning tied directly to state standards, including activities like seed saving, apple picking, cider making, bug identification, and harvesting salad greens.
Bus Capacity Limit: Transportation via Durham School Services is available for the first 66 students who submit permission slips.
Permission Slip Deadline: Friday, September 25. We will follow up with every family. Please complete whether your child will/will not attend.
4th Grade Expansion: On Wednesday, September 30, any remaining open spots will be offered to 4th-grade students.
