Hello All,
This is Amanda Tamo, the Arete Cross Country Coach. You are receiving this email because I was informed by either email or by student interest that your child is interested in joining the Arete team this year. Please read carefully for this is important information to get the season started right!
REGISTRATION:
You or your child should have received a school permission slip/medical waiver form. Please have this form filled out and signed brought to their first practice. They cannot practice without their permission slip turned in! Another copy is attached below.
Copy of Athletic Permission Slip
PRACTICE:
Practices are Tuedays and Thursdays (starting 8/20) from 2:10pm-3:00pm. If your child is in Blended Middle School program, they will just stay until 3:00pm. If you are dropping off a student who is not already on campus, I suggest waiting until 2:10 to avoid the 2:00pm pick up traffic. We will meet at the drop off area in front of the school and begin walking to the grassy field for warmups at 2:15. Please pick up promptly at 3:00pm.
Mr. Codiga will be filling in for me for the first four practices. Runners will be doing various runs on campus, but mainly working on building up stamina and tempo.
Practices are not mandatory, as I know many of you have busy lives and crazy schedules, but please let me know if you will not be there regularly on certain days so I can know who to expect at practice.
WHAT TO BRING:
- WATER BOTTLE
- ATHLETIC SHOES( not Crocs, flip-flops, sandals, heavy boots, swim fins, high heels, etc...)
- COOL COMFORTABLE RUNNING CLOTHES
- POSITIVITY AND A CAN-DO ATTITUDE!
MEETS:
The official meet schedule has not been released, but as of now our first meet is tentatively scheduled forWednesday Sept 11 at Union Hill (time TBD, but most likely 3:30). Our home meet( at Magnolia) will be on October 9th at 3:30. That's all I have at the moment for race scheduling, More to come when it is finalized!
The races are approximately a mile long. Since these are trail runs, they all vary in length and in levels of difficulty. We will be running hills at practice to help prepare!
Thanks for sharing your kiddos with me. I love coaching this sport. I look forward to another awesome XC season!
Run on,
Coach Tamo
