good afternoon this is Rusty Clark the superintendent of Pleasant Ridge Union School District we welcome you to our monthly update a Pleasant Ridge Union School today we'd like to introduce to you Sarah Schwartz our new director of a red they Charter School questions about the new school how did the name and what does it mean how does the mission incorporate a red day needs of students and the value each of them have and helping parents to help them achieve that in a homeschool setting what structure is a home-school based program can you show a little bit of looks like next case five will have the opportunity to come to enrichment classes in the erect a resource center which will include Hands-On science social studies projects will bring it in specialist computer specialist a lot of that will depend on what is interesting to the kids and kind of following that then 6th 7th and 8th grade students can attend just as I know yet. So what you doing is your in capturing the students interest and then teaching through the core within whatever they're in great concept what is the difference between or Elementary division of the Rite Aid in the Middle School Division it changes I'm a little bit through the grades so that curriculum is primarily digital the students will be given a chrome with that they will check the year when they enroll K3 will have 70% of the curriculum delivered with Hands-On materials they actually get all the Hands-On materials you can want reading and math in anything that they couldn't eat then four fives about 50-50 so half of the of the materials will be given to them will be shipped out in boxes and then your half is delivered online through the digital Hercules's 6-8 will have 100% digital curriculum other than any electives that they made at very good so if I were to have a student with disabilities or a gifted student how would they be able to support those types of students program is set at the digital curriculum is set up to provide both enrichment I students may need that or any intervention that they also mean students who come to us with an IEP with we would have the IP team meet to determine the best way to meet their goals and meet their needs at our school West either Cottage Hill Elementary Alta Sierra Elementary or Magnolia Intermediate School depending on the age of the of the student and their closest LeBaron Air 2 going to make rose with them so they when they enter our program they will take an assessment that will placement place them at the level that they need to be and then they can go as fast as as they are ready to learn homework we know we have parents out there that I always ask about homework and teachers that give quite a bit of homework what's the homework like for non-classroom base that will vary by student and my family my vision is that primarily the homework would be nightly reading and maybe some extra math despite many students will complete their work during the day services that already May provide us so we have what I believe is called Learning Centers what does that look like opportunities that K5 students have is they can come into our that are at a resource center located on the corner of Magnolia intermediate campus and come to classes with other students said they have the time to play and meet and socialize with other students their age they will also that will be the time that we provide any enrichment that we think would be a grant for weather learning weather interested in whether needs are so for K5 that would be two mornings a week groups by age two students would be together three five students would be together then what about that's from DirecTV Resource Center book and has a material they also can attend our District Library to check out materials from them as well show me how to knowledge is going to be a key component in learning with within a red tape  degraded in students starting as early as Cameron will be doing some  learning through technology off of WhatsApp Hands-On but at they will be learn Minecraft books working with Chromebooks we also can bring it in Richmond for whether they're interested in robotics or coding or things like that to continue what's good so they'll have an opportunity with elective programs on are arming hamsters as well didn't have a very unique opportunity where they can be homeschooled do primary their Primary Learning at home and then come to our electives at Magnolia hope you have a huge selection of computers and are in Woodworking and music band that they can participate in again with other things that are schools are there any activities that are ready will be participating in Contracting the local vendors to provide services that we would we would pay for for the students as part of their contract with erratic where they can attend dance classes baseball play baseball again computers are cooking things that are of interest to them that's it's really. Sun  you know what the city California in our traditional schools have a has a physical education requirement who will rent a meet that requirement and what will be required of the students to meet that requirement individually next day of public school student still and they will meet that through our vendors and through their extra activities that they may do whether it's soccer or karate does minutes will all be documented the parents will be part of that documentation process they will meet with me we will keep the records and ensure that we're meeting that standard so the point with being a non classroom-based School the parents are the primary instructors so as an educator and buy City California what is required of the parents to me with a red Tay staff how many is it monthly as a bi-monthly how frequently do parents need to meet with a staff  so the minute the student parent-teacher Triad will meet once every 20 school days to check in see in Richmond that need to be arranged Steve interventions need to be arranged so that that's the room the minimum requirement there may be some students sent me to meet more often maybe parents are new to homeschool or there's a particular area student struggle we could arrange more frequent meetings as needed also we have the beauty through using digital technology that if parents are traveling or if this is enrolled in competitive gymnastics our first back writing that we would be able to Skype or FaceTime those meetings so as let's continue on with this name of parents in their involvement how will rent to keep parents informed throughout the educational we month each school year very good we will our primary daily weekly communication will be for a website we have updates that the parents can subscribe to an any and that needs to a daily or weekly will go out that way we'll also have monthly newsletters that we will send on just successes but things that we've seen and then Center that have been exciting or maybe tips for homeschooling or parents or different kinds of teaching styles we will be meeting you. monthly to be having this constant checking also as parents drop off their kids will be touching base with them and communicating and they will have access as well too phone or any questions that they have we want them to be answered and addressed immediately if you have a parent or parents or families that are out there that are is interested in a red tail how can I get ahold of you Sarah get our name out there and you can email her email address erect a at Pura stayed at us we have a website or Rite Aid.
