5/2 Update

Our 3-8th graders were rock stars today! They jumped right in with both feet to CAASP testing and most were trying their best. We will test again tomorrow and then resume with the same routine Monday and Tuesday. The Arete Resource Center will be open for normal during testing with Mrs. Harrison, Mrs. B and Mrs. Tamo providing art, science, and social studies. We are open Friday for regular middle school hours.

Also, tomorrow is our fun field trip to Alta Sierra School to climb inside the huge Earth dome and learn about geography. Plan to meet me in front to the MPR at 16607 Annie Drive at 12:45 for about 45 minutes.

We had a lovely day painting with Ms. Tiffany today. Thanks to all who came!

*Starting Wednesday, all 3-8th graders will meet me at Arete at 8:50 to walk over to A2 for CAASP testing until 10:58. Please do not be late as I want them logged in the computer and working by 9am. This will count as two hours of their daily work time and then they will have two hours to complete when they get home. They will have access to computers until 11 if they get done with testing early, but should bring any other books, etc they might need to complete lessons. Any kiddos who want to, are welcome to stay until 12  and can come back to Arete with me. Middle School students should bring their chromebooks if they choose to do that.

Testing will continue on May 3, 7, and 8th with the same routine.

*Please remember that state testing is one way to measure students. We all know there are many other ways to measure the progress a student makes. I know for some students, this is the first time they are taking these kinds of tests, and we appreciate that you are trusting us to administer them to your children. I will be there the entire time and will be monitoring how it is going and if they need breaks, etc.

*Please ask your child to do their best as data from these tests help us to measure how Arete has done this year educating your child and helps us see what strengths and weaknesses are in our curriculum and program. The information will help us to plan better for the future of Arete and your child's education. We will gain valuable information about how your children are progressing towards meeting or exceeding grade level standards. Thanks so much for your support!

*The Arete Resource Center will be open as normal for K-2 during testing times. Mrs. Harrison, Mrs. B and Mrs. Tamo will be here with lots of fun lessons ready to go for the kiddos!

*Don't forget, this Thursday Arete visits Alta Sierra School for an amazing Earth Dome presentation. Students can stay at Arete until 12:15 to eat lunch and then parents should plan on picking up their kiddos to drive them to Alta School where I will meet you in front of the MPR. This should be a fun Geography event! Please let me know if you can make it.

*Please take our survey for Arete. We use this information to plan for next year and to say what we would like our school to be like in the future. This is completely anonymous and helps gives us important information that we will need to write our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). It only take a few minutes!
