Potential Public Safety Power Shutoff

Dear PRUSD families,

We have been notified that our schools might be affected this Wednesday, October 9th, 2019 with a planned Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) conducted by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E).  PG&E uses PSPS when weather conditions such as high winds and low humidity create a high risk for fire. We believe that planning ahead is the best safeguard and has been working closely with several Nevada County agencies including the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools, and Nevada County Office of Emergency Services (NCOES), and PG&E.

The latest message from NCOES and PG&E is that the power will be turned off tonight beginning at 12:00AM. The outage may be up to five days according to NCOES. We will notify you in the morning through our messaging system if schools are canceled. Unless otherwise informed, please plan for school to continue as scheduled.

Below is some helpful information to help you and your family prepare for these outages.

In all cases, student and staff safety is always our top priority. We will contact you as soon as more information from PG&E becomes available. We will also post updates on our school and district's websites, district twitter and Facebook accounts.
