Bishop’s Pumpkin Patch HAMBURGER FARM FIELD TRIP, April 28, 2023 10:15 AM - 12:45 PM

The first 12 Arete students are paid for by Arete. If you cancel within one week of the field trip, you will need to reimburse Arete $15 for your child's fee. All non- Arete participants aged 2+ are $15. The fee must be paid by Friday, March 31 (Spring Break is right after that so it's and early payment period) or we will delete your sign up. Once this field trip fills up, you may email [email protected] to be added to the list (up to 30 kiddos total) and $15 will be deducted from your child's Enrichment Funds. That is because this is a pricey field trip and was added late in the year when we have already spent most of our field trip funds. Thanks for understanding.

We will provide you with the perfect spring field trip, combining equal parts of learning and fun. The special education program provides a guided tour of a farm that grows all of the crops needed for a hamburger. The farm is even shaped like a hamburger!Admission to The Hamburger Farm Includes:

  • A ride on the Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm Railroad to the Hamburger Farm site

  • A 45-minute guided tour of a farm  that grows all of the crops needed for a hamburger, including:

    • Hands-on activities such as grinding wheat into flour, milking a “cow” to get milk for cheese, digging potatoes to learn how they are cut into French fries.

    • Information about each crop grown and it’s role in the hamburger, the importance of bees in agriculture along with other “good” and “bad” insects, and the role of California agriculture.

  • A self-guided tour of Weeland Petting Zoo

    • Be aware that each group must assemble for a safety video upon entry to Weeland. A maximum of 50 people can be admitted every 3 minutes, so there may be a short wait to enter.

  • Play time in Farmer Bills Barn, the Tree House, Coyote Mountain Mine, or the other various open-play areas on the farm.

  • Nutritious hamburger lunch to include: a hamburger, potato chips, sugar cookie and milk or water to drink
